Football debates deserve more than an opinion.
Goat Arena is an interactive football platform built for fans who want to compare great players, explore the numbers behind their careers, discover football history and have their own say in the debate.
WHO RUNS GOAT ARENA
A small team, not an algorithm.
Goatarena is built and maintained by a small team of football fans with a background in data and web development. We built the comparison engine and statistics database ourselves, and we keep both updated by hand — this isn't an auto-generated stats feed.

DATA & SOURCES
Numbers should come with context.
Goat Arena uses publicly available football information and competition records as the foundation for its statistical pages. Sources can vary depending on the statistic and era, and we cross-check totals against more than one source whenever the figures disagree.
THE ARENA
Legends, icons and the next generation.
Goatarena isn't built around one player or one generation. The platform brings different eras and different styles into the same football conversation.

A home for football's biggest comparisons.
The word "GOAT" gets thrown around constantly in football. Messi or Ronaldo. Pelé or Maradona. Mbappé or Haaland. Yamal or Vinícius. These debates can become endless arguments, especially when every fan brings a different definition of greatness.
Goatarena was created to make those conversations easier to explore. Goatarena doesn't reduce a career to one number. We look at career totals, performance, international football, trophies, individual awards, records and historical context.
The goal isn't to tell every visitor who their GOAT has to be. The goal is to give fans a better place to investigate the argument and make their own judgement.

ExploreHOW WE LOOK AT PLAYERS
Greatness isn't one number.
A goals total can tell you something important about a striker. A trophy count can show sustained team success. An individual award can reflect how a player was judged during a particular period. None of those measurements tells the entire story on its own. Here's how we weigh them against each other.
Production
Goals and assists only tell you so much on their own. We weigh them against games actualy played, so a striker who scored 20 in 25 startw isn't buried under one who scored 20 in 38.
Team success
League titles, domestic cups, continental trophies and international honours provide context around winning — and around how much of that success was individually earned versus shared with a strong squad.
Individual recognition
Major awards and scoring honours help show how a player's performances were recognised during their era, while acknowledging that award voting has its own biases.
Historical context
Competition, era, role, teammates and career stage matter when two players come from very different football environments — a raw stat from the 1980s and one from today aren't measuring identical conditions.
DATA & SOURCES
Numbers should come with context.
Goatarena uses publicly available football information and competition records as the foundation for its statistical pages. Sources can vary depending on the statistic and era, and we cross-check totals against more than one source whenever the figures disagree.
Statistics can change as competitions are completed or historical databases are updated. Where a figure is particularly important to a comparison, visitors should consult the relevant official competition or governing-body source. Last cross-checked: September 2026.
THE COMMUNITY
The numbers inform the debate.
Goatarena also gives the audience a direct voice. The Vote & Discuss experience records live community votes so visitors can see how the current Arena is leaning between competing players.
The result isn't presented as an objective measurement of who is the greatest footballer. It's a snapshot of what the participating Goatarena community thinks.
See the Live VoteWHERE GOAT ARENA IS GOING
The debate doesn't end with Messi and Ronaldo.
Messi and Ronaldo are at the heart of the platform because their rivalry has defined an era of football. But football greatness existed long before them and will continue long after them.
That's why Goatarena also explores all-time legends and the players shaping the next generation. The comparison library includes historical matchups such as Messi vs Maradona and Ronaldo vs Pelé, while the modern GOAT race follows players such as Mbappé, Haaland, Yamal and Vinícius Júnior.
EDITORIAL STANDARD
Built to be explored, not blindly trusted.
Football statistics can differ between databases because of competition definitions, historical records and how certain matches or assists are classified.
If you find a questionable figure or outdated information, contact the Goatarena team with the relevant source.
We aim to show the category and competition behind a number rather than presenting isolated statistics without context.
Statistics can support an argument, but they cannot turn a subjective football debate into an objective mathematical answer.
